Chattahoochee’s Green Sangria

June 10, 2012

I’ve been on hiatus. Lots of traveling, weird diets and sleep deprivation. I have a ton of posts in queue; I just need to spend a day sitting down updating. I need to do it ASAP because I’ll forget the mistakes I made on some of my recipes. I keep this updated more as a personal log than anything else. But if a month goes by and I don’t track, then the scribble in my notepad, which is drenched in weird liquids, won’t be decipherable. With that said, I’m back! Learn from my mistakes…

Sangria is the easiest thing. It’s just wine with fruit and some liquor. It doesn’t even matter what kind of fruit or alcohol. You just need to pre-plan the day before so it sets.

I went to ‘shoot the hooch’ last weekend and wanted something light (thanks to Sean’s suggestion). I associate the color green with light. This makes no sense, I know this, but whatever makes me feel good, right?!

For you non-Georgia folk, I was doing a lazy river (tubing). Hence why the sangria is in a sealed container. I used a Sauvignon Blanc (my fave) and 1 cup of lemon juice.

One mistake: It was a tad too sweet. Instead of a cup of simple sugar syrup, I would cut that in half. Oh yea and Cointreau is pretty spectacular (1 cup for every bottle of wine).

Set and forget the day before and you will have summertime fun! Serve mixed with seltzer (1 liter for every bottle of wine). You like my fridge? I always get IMs or e-mails with commentary. The answer is: Yes. I like it organized. I’m not the only person. I think everyone should send me pics of their fridges. I like to see how others live. E-Mail orangeyouhungry@yahoo.com, tweet a pic to rightokiddo, text a pic if we’re friends in real life, or post a comment on here. I want to see how you live so I can secretly compare myself.
