Mike’s Chocolate Glazed Tart

August 15, 2011

My brother-in-law likes chocolate, I mean really likes chocolate. For his birthday I tried to find the chocolatiest recipe out there, so I settled on this Gourmet Chocolate Glazed Tart. Funny enough, he got double chocolate cakes from his co-workers, so I am pretty sure when you opened the fridge, it’d be like someone blew cold chocolate wind at you.

This was rather simple and has a very pretty, glossy and elegant look to it. A bit too rich for my taste, but then again whenever you are playing with double chocolate, you are entering the danger zone of rich.

On a non-baking related note, I spent more money this weekend then all of last month, I needed new sneakers.

Brace yourself for my dorkiness. How cool are these Newton sneakers?  It’s very bizarre to wear them, it’s like a bubble in the ball from of your foot which helps redefine your center of gravity and alignment (read more on the website). I’ve seen these in running magazines and the reviews have all been very positive. I’ll run in them this week, so I’ll report back.

While on the minimalist running trend, I bought a pair of Minimus New Balance sneakers (trail). I have never tried on the barefoot toe-sneakers, but I’m not sure I’d like to call so much attention to myself (odd considering the first pair is bright pink right?!). I can’t say I’m sold on the minimalist thing, I ran with them yesterday and my legs were pretty sore, but that could have also been because I was having an off day. I did notice I had no soreness this morning, so it could possibly be worth the hype. Also, it is interesting how much more defined rocks and roots on the trail are. This is kind of cool since I feel like it gives you more control, especially when doing slight climbs and jumps on rocks. It’s a huge difference from my previous trail sneakers, time will tell if it’s the best purchase ever.

My last running note, I stocked up on clothes since Nike had a sale.  I LOVE this Dri-Fit shirt. It’s so adorable right? I love how it’s a low cute v-neck, which I have never seen before on a fitness shirt. I have no idea why, but I love the slight sports bra exposure. Yes, that was my shopping binge, now time to hide the credit card for a few months.

Wow, those are some fabulous looking running shoes – how are they working out? I need to get some trail running shoes ASAP.

The pink ones are great for short runs (sprints, speedwork, etc). People use them for marathons, but I’m skeptical about that.

The minimalist/barefoot sneaker are great depending on the trail, better for flat trails. I like having treads for gripping and traction if there are intense hills which these lack.

Gr8 figure but still don’t know who the heck she is. That must mean she’s aeohtnr one famous for having no skills, no talent, no nothing.’- LI, London, 08/2/2011 12:48Rubbish. She has a massive talent for making huge amounts of money. That’s what we all go to school in the hope of achieving. If you have it as a natural, God-given talent, you are truly blessed. If you can make money out of nothing,’ you are even more so. And unless you personally have an equivalent fortune to the one she has stashed away, I can’t see how you are in a position to pontificate on her skills or talent, or the lack thereof.
