Christmas at my apartment!

December 8, 2008

I have to say, my roommate Liz and I must have been destined to live together. She shares the same love for little details around the holidays (or big details once you see my tree). It’s all about the spirit of Christmas for me, not about the presents (how cheeseball does that sound?).

We both decided that since this our first apartment, we should really make sure to have the feeling of the holiday in our home. Apparently most people don’t put a tree up when they live in an apartment. This is such a shame to me. There’s something magical about the lights, smell, and twinkle of a tree.

So Liz and I not only bought a tree, we chopped it down ourselves! We drove an hour and a half away to NJ somewhere, laid on the floor and sawed off our precious Norwegian Pine tree down. (This also taught me that I need to work out more and that I’m allergic to pine trees).

We probably should have measured it because the stump was too thick for the stand and the top was too tall. This was a National Lampoon style tree, but I don’t think I’d have it any other way.

So without further ado, I present to you our Christmas tree:

We had so many branches left that I made a wreath and 4 of these door toppers:

It’s pretty easy and was a ton of fun. So if you are missing some magical Christmas spirit, come over my place. We have chex mix, cake, cinnamon candles, garland in the kitchen, hot chocolate with homemade marshmellows, paper snowflakes in the windows and a GIANT twinkling tree.

Hope everyone is having a great holiday season! I’ll be updating soon with more festive food items.
