Sugar Cookies for Kaaren

August 19, 2008

A little while ago it was my friend Kaaren’s birthday.  She is a very bright and optimistic lady whom I used to work with. Now I am located about an hour away from her job.  I couldn’t make her a cake, so I figured cookies would be the best bet.

I made a whole bunch of shapes, but only bothered to take pictures of my favorite two types. I had some leftover fondant from a cake I previously made, so I thought it would be cool to do a basket-weave over a heart-shaped sugar cookie. It ended up pretty awesome.

I also made these cute pig cookies. I used melted chocolate to draw in the mouth and eyes.

Again, I apologize for the crumby pictures. These were pre-blogging days and I really didn’t think I’d do anything with them except for my own reference.

I think cookies were a ton of fun, but I definitely have a lot more to learn. I need a good icing recipe because fondant was ok for molding, but not really that cool glossy effect.

Mailing them was fun. I wrapped each individually in plastic bags and tied it with ribbon. Then stuffed them all in a box with shredded paper. She was completely surprised.

The sugar cookies that you sent Kaaren were awesome. I had the pleasure of seeing all the different ones that you sent, not only your favorites, and one was nicer than the other. Great job!!

Написано конечно всё правильно, хотя и только поверхностно. В любом случае спасибо
